How about some medieval Knights Templar character sets? Pioneer Valley Games has released one, expanding their medieval theme, including interior tilesets.

Or how about some medieval music to match? Joel Steudler has done a very good job on composing 20 medieval pieces (5 Battle, 4 Dungeon, 3 Field, 3 Theme, and 5 Town) using period musical instruments, such as the lute, recorder, and harpsichord. And I do really like this collection.

The final DLC is Sherman3D's Town of Seasons pack, which contains tiles town tilesets for Winter, Summer, Spring or Fall.

They're available for purchase and download directly from RPG Maker Web's site.

Or, if you prefer to buy them on Steam, you'll have to wait. DLCs usually appear there about a month after their release on RPG Maker Web.

New Releases: Karugamo Fantasy Music Packs

10% Discount on All Packs

RPG Maker Web has released the Karugamo Fantasy Music Packs. Right now there is a 10% discount on each pack, but the offer expires on 24 June, 2016.

Each music pack costs $9.99 and each one has a distinct theme:

Pack 01 has tracks for dungeons, towers, and land or sea travel.

Pack 02 centres around civilization (castles, towns, villages, etc.).

Pack 03 features music for battle and hero types.

And Pack 04 focuses on cut-scenes or events.

All themes have been optimised for RPG Maker VX Ace and MV.

RPG Maker MV Preorder & Release Date

RPG Maker MV is being released on October 23, 2015.

You can preorder your copy with a 10% discount and two bonus packs: the Cover Art Characters Pack and the MV Essentials Set. Steam or non-Steam keys will be available when RPG Maker MV is officially released.

The preorder cost (with the discount) is a princely $71.99, but to me (based on what I've seen so far) it's worth it!

What Makes RPG Maker MV Exciting

Previous RPG Makers (from 2K to VXA) have been limited to Windows only. However, RPG Maker MV can now be used on both Windows and Mac machines. Not only that, you can also export games you create to Android or iOS, as well as to HTML5 so games can be playable on your websites.

In this video, Stephen Plays showcases some of the features in RPG Maker MV. He was one of the fortunate ones to have a preview version to play with.



The tiles are larger with "intelligent" tile transparency and you can choose between front-view or side-view battles, depending on your preference. RPG Maker MV also comes with a built-in character creator, complete with sprites and facesets, which will be very useful for creating styled characters.

I've preordered my copy already and, although the price may be somewhat high, it's definitely worth it! Being able to create and produce RPG Maker MV games on a wide range of formats is a huge plus! I'm looking forward to RPG Maker MV; I'll activate my copy through Steam, though you can choose to have a non-Steam key if you prefer.

Payday is literally just around the corner (tomorrow actually), so I'll be preordering my own copy of RPG Maker MV. I'm surprisingly excited. And then, of course, it means I have to relearn JavaScript, not necessarily a bad thing.

RPG Maker 2003 Official English Translation

Yes, it's official! RPG Maker 2003 has been officially translated into English and is now available on Steam.



I just bought it to add to my Steam collection. I now have them all in one convenient place.

Futuristic Tileset

The latest addition to the ever-growing RPG Maker resource expansion packs is the Futuristic Tileset. You can buy it for $19.99 (or $74.99 for a non-RPG Maker license).

There have been very few decent RPG Maker games set in the future and fewer resources, so this quality tileset (which includes two parallax backgrounds) is a worthy addition.

Arabian Nights Resource Pack

The folks at RPG Maker Web have done it again! We were previously presented with the Modern Shop Add-On, purchasable for only $5.99.

This time, however, we have the awe-inspiring Arabian Nights Resource Pack. It costs $9.99, but it's worth the price. It's stunning!

I'm promptly reminded of one of my favourite SNES games, Arabian Nights and, of course, the Aladdin movies.

To be brutally honest, I'm not sure about the music sample they have on their page, entitled Arabian Nights - Town. It's too shrill and tinny and gave me a headache, though it's probably not the best one in the pack.

I know one thing, there's a small fortune amassing in my bank account specifically for all this cool RPG Maker stuff (yes, including RMVXA).
